Roll or Not is a small experimental dice game about risk.

You roll dice to earn money.
If numbers repeat between rolls, they form chains.
Chains grow fast — and so do the rewards.

But every roll is a choice.

You can stop and take the money… or roll again and risk losing everything.

Too many ones in a single roll? - All chains break instantly.

Why this game exists

This is my first game dev project I’ve brought this far.

This project started as a prototype with two goals:

  1. To explore Godot - I previously worked mostly with Python, so this project was a hands-on way to learn Godot from scratch. No third-party plugins are used — dice mechanics, chains, profiles, and achievements are all implemented manually.
  2. To explore a single emotion - Not complexity, not content — just risk. The temptation to push further, and the fear of going too far.

Current features

  • Core gameplay loop:
    • rolling dice
    • forming chains
    • calculating profit
  • Dice upgrades: quantity and quality
  • Clear win conditions
  • Three independent player profiles
  • Achievements
(I love achievements — they’re a big part of the fun for me)

What’s missing (for now)

  • Custom textures
  • Animations
  • Sound
